If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. if so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. the switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame.. My washing machine is 6 years old. i found what i think is a good deal on a motor (about $50). i was just wondering if it would be a good investment to have a spare motor around.. How important is it to have motor burnout cover in your home insurance? what kind of electrical goods can cause motor burnout? the only think i can think of in my has that has a motor would be the fridge and washing machine..
