I dont understand this part... when you download a file, there is error checking and correction. Its impossible to have mangled data, whatever the speed or the time of day. The only error than can show up are if your filesystem/hard disk has errors or corruption.
Yes you are right IDEALLY there is ECC / CRC check during downloading but for some reason this not fool proof that is why whenever there is some misbehaving encountered and you bring the unit to Nokia Center (even android or IOS) the first thing that they will do is re-flash the phone with same FW to check if the download and install process is error free before they analyze the hardware. And for considerable cases it were corrected by this. That is what i did but without bringing the unit to a service center. They would even tell you that after re-flashing and correction of the unit that there are a lot of cases that units misbehaving after OTA or Update due to unstable downloading process. Until now my L920 is working great without any hardware change.
Anyway I have installed/uninstalled apps, blocked services, background apps, changed settings, etc. and sometimes I tought that I found the problem when having multiple days without having this issue. Then, without any warning, the phone get hot again for no reason that I can think of.
So far my first 920 was replaced for the dusty "proximity sensor" issue, and the new one got repaired on warranty for a failed headphone plug, and now this dreaded battery draining problem is putting the last nail on the coffin.
Im now considering calling Rogers and complaning a lot, in the hope I could get a replacement phone (and not a Nokia this time!). Im a long time client, and if they want to keep me after my contract is up they better do something, or theyll lose me.
